Today in class we are learning how a wiki works. We created a user name and password for our class. We came across a problem trying to upload our logo. Uploading files are blocked at the moment. We have changed the skin of our wiki page. I changed our skin and scared everyone whenit changed on their computers. Ha Ha!! Anyway we picked one that we liked. It is still a work in progress.

It’s about that time!! Next week is the big kick off to potty training my son!!

http://blog.flattenme.com/?p=7

This is just about more potty training tips and tricks!! Here are a couple tips that I might use in the future:

  • Similar to the cheerio trick we’ve put a couple of drops of blue food coloring in the middle of the toilet bowl and asked our son to pee on them. They change color to green and it’s very exciting.
  • Let him watch other little kids use the potty.
  • There are too many to list!!!

Live streaming video still has its fair share of hiccups, but the industry is working to ensure the supply of bandwidth keeps up with demand

I like watching videos on the web. Bandwidth is my problem at home. At peak times it’s very hard to watch any videos on my computer. So I thought that the article was interesting.

Mini-Laptops: The Next Big Thing?

This article is very interesting to me. I am currently taking a Linux class. The computer that was just shown @ an electronics show in Germany was Linux based. It also interests me because of them trying to get computers to children in other countries.

In Class & Terms 3/3 March 3, 2008

Filed under: Class Vocabulary — cateyesccj @ '7:40 pm'

Today in class we learned all about sound files and went to different sites. We also talked alot about copyrighted things on the Internet. We also searched different sites and looked around them at their rules & regs.

Copyright-symbolized “©” – is a legal concept, enacted by most governments, giving the creator of an original work exclusive rights to it, usually for a limited time. Generally, it is “the right to copy”, but also gives the copyright holder the right to be credited for the work, to determine who may adapt the work to other forms, who may perform the work, who may financially benefit from it, and other, related rights.

Public Domain-is a range of abstract materials – commonly referred to as intellectual property – which are not owned or controlled by anyone. The term indicates that these materials are therefore “public property”, and available for anyone to use for any purpose. The laws of various countries define the scope of the public domain differently, making it necessary to specify which jurisdiction’s public domain is being discussed. Furthermore, the public domain can be defined in contrast to several forms of intellectual property; the public domain in contrast to copyrighted works is different from the public domain in contrast to trademarks or patented works.

Trademark-is a distinctive sign or indicator of some kind which is used by an individual, business organization or other legal entity to identify uniquely the source of its products and/or services to consumers, and to distinguish its products or services from those of other entities. A trademark is a type of intellectual property, and typically comprises a name, word, phrase, logo, symbol, design, image, or a combination of these elements.

Intellectual Property- is a legal field that refers to creations of the mind such as musical, literary, and artistic works; inventions; and symbols, names, images, and designs used in commerce, including copyrights, trademarks, patents, and related rights. Under intellectual property law, the holder of one of these abstract “properties” has certain exclusive rights to the creative work, commercial symbol, or invention which is covered by it.

Terms & Conditions-A specification of restrictions for the use of goods or services.

Fair Use- is a doctrine in United States copyright law that allows limited use of copyrighted material without requiring permission from the rights holders, such as use for scholarship or review. It provides for the legal, non-licensed citation or incorporation of copyrighted material in another author’s work under a four-factor balancing test. It is based on free speech rights provided by the First Amendment to the United States Constitution.

Educational Purpose-The use of the Internet must be for educational and research activities.
